It must be hard to make an independent film in today’s Iran. And it’s even harder to broadcast an avant-garde film in this new era. But it was me who did it with a group of hard-working people! (Hesam Sharifi says<\/strong>)<\/em><\/p>

He continues<\/strong>: Zaqqum, The Tree Of Hell is a short film inspired by three masterpieces with three different styles in the history of visual art. The film pictures a clear image of the Iranian new generation, those who live for a slice of bread in this hellish age of the country.<\/em>
Maybe some people didn’t believe in the blackness of our times, or perhaps they didn’t consider a Middle Eastern Experimental film<\/strong> that adapted from classical paintings<\/strong>(!) But it was important for Rome Prisma Film Award. Rome, the city of cinema, stands in front of Hollywood in the history of the seventh art. Rossellini<\/strong> city, Leone<\/strong> city, Elio Petri<\/strong> city, and others…<\/em>
It was amazing, absolutely amazing, The Rome Prisma event night. In the rainy weather of Rome. And in the company of directors and filmmakers from all over the world. In a historical cinema hall, where a photo of the legendary Sophia Loren<\/strong> was on the wall. During the night, we watched films, drank with the other artists and talked about the cinema.<\/em>
It was an honor for me to participate in this competition and be with the Prisma staff. And I am pleased that Rome Prisma Film Award honored me and my team with two plaques.<\/em><\/p>

\"\"Zaqqum The Tree Of Hell<\/strong>, a short film written and directed by Hesam Sharifi<\/strong>, produced by Parandeh Alaei<\/strong>, and with original music by Hadi Farahmand<\/strong>, has won the award for BEST MOVIE POSTER<\/strong> at The Rome Prisma Film Awards<\/strong> in Rome, Italy<\/strong>. The movie was also among the Finalists<\/strong> of the festival for the Best Short Film<\/strong> competition. The event was held in the Cinema Farnese in Rome, Italy, on the last 16th of December 2022<\/strong>.
As an avant-garde and experimental short film, the new production of Zigguart Multimedia<\/strong> represents the life and thoughts of the bourgeoisie and working class of Iranian society<\/strong>. The people who work so hard and do anything to achieve a better life, but their beliefs are different from what they are. This inconsistency is the hell they live in and feed.
Zaqqum, The Tree Of Hell has inspired by three famous paintings in art history: Dante and Virgil in Hell<\/strong> by William-Adolphe Bouguereau<\/strong>, At Eternity\u2019s Gate<\/strong> by Vincent Van Gogh<\/strong>, and Wanderer above the Sea of Fog<\/strong> by Caspar David Friedrich<\/strong>. The film reconstructs these Masterpieces in the critical moments of the characters\u2019 life.
Alpha is a single janitor who sleeps in his car at night. He calls up At Eternity\u2019s Gate in the movie. Omega is a married migrant who works and lives in a building under construction with other workers. He plays The Wanderer above the Sea of Fog. They meet each other in an imaginary world, fighting for the vital necessities of life. And they will finally revive Dante and Virgil in Hell together.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The cast is so minimal.\u00a0Ali Ghamilouie<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Alireza Gheydari<\/strong>\u00a0are the only actors in the film. The original score is composed by Iranian composer\u00a0Hadi Farahmand<\/strong>. The music is a mixture of different experimentations and techniques such as combination, distortion, and manipulations of the sound. The traditional kind of\u00a0Electroacoustic Music<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Sound Design<\/strong>, but produced by new technologies. The soundtrack, with its aggressive and bizarre nature, reinforces the\u00a0antagonistic area<\/strong>\u00a0of the film.\u00a0Hesam Sharifi<\/strong>, the Iranian Painter, and Filmmaker is the\u00a0director<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0writer<\/strong>\u00a0of the screenplay.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\"\"Rome Prisma Film Awards<\/strong>\u00a0were founded by\u00a0Stefano Perletta<\/strong>\u00a0in 2018 and hosted by\u00a0Cinema Azzurro Scipioni<\/strong>. In its first year, the festival hosted\u00a0Silvano Agosti<\/strong>\u00a0as the President of the jury, a legendary Italian Director who has worked with some of the Greatest Italian professionals like\u00a0Storaro<\/strong>,\u00a0Morricone<\/strong>,\u00a0Piovani<\/strong>, and many others. The past winning films in the festival have gone all the way to A-tier festivals like the film \u201cMay Day<\/strong>\u201d 1st annual awards winner and\u00a0Oscar-shortlisted film<\/strong>, \u201cAlien<\/strong>\u201c by\u00a0Yeon Je-Wang<\/strong>, and \u201cInanimate<\/strong>\u201d by\u00a0Lucia Bulgheroni<\/strong>\u00a0got into Cannes Cinefondation, \u201cPierdete entre Los Muertos<\/strong>\u201d by\u00a0Ruben Gutierrez<\/strong>\u00a0which has showcased into the feature films at Rotterdam Film Festival, and many others\u2026Since 2020 the artistic director\u00a0Marcello Di Trocchio<\/strong>\u00a0stepped in, creating a series of very popular online screenings on Twitch during the pandemic. Zaqqum, The Tree Of Hell \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>There is a tree that Springs out of the bottom of hell, called\u00a0Zaqqum<\/strong>. The inhabitants of the inferno have to eat the fruits of Zaqqum, which makes their bodies tear apart and release bodily fluids as a punishment. The Short Film pictures the daily battle of life between two Sons of Perdition, Alpha and Omega.
